The museum has 6 exhibition halls, including an exhibition hall and a lecture hall, and 7 departments: ancient history, clothing, musical instruments, household items and tableware, tools, the Soviet period and war. The total area of the museum is 127.1 sq. m, and the exhibition halls cover 381.3 sq. m. The museum's collection comprises 2,718 exhibits and 967 units of scientific and auxiliary holdings. Among the particularly valuable items are remains of ancient animals and artifacts of prehistoric humans. On an area of 300 sq. m, the museum departments display archaeological and numismatic collections, a flora and fauna collection, as well as examples of the decorative, applied and fine arts of the Lower Chuvash people.
