Birsk Historical Museum

Birsk Historical Museum was founded in 1990 and until 2006 was a branch of the National Museum of the Republic of Bashkortostan. In 2014 the museum moved into a purpose-built building in the center of Birsk. It became an independent cultural institution and currently has an impressive main collection comprising more than 10,000 items. The museum's staff consists of 7 people, yet it receives over 12,000 visitors a year. It reflects the history, everyday life and culture of the city of Birsk, as well as valuable documents from the 19th–20th centuries. The museum houses exhibits that recreate the characteristics of life in a provincial town. At present the museum collection includes more than 10,000 items.
