Belsky Local History Museum
About museum
Located in a former merchant's house of the 19th–early 20th century, the museum was opened on August 14, 1925 under the county society of local historians. During the German occupation the building was looted; however, a 17th-century cast-iron cannon was preserved. In 1979 the museum was incorporated into the system of the Tver State United Museum, and in 2007 it underwent major renovations; in 2008 a new local history exhibition was opened. It consists of three sections devoted to the history of the pre-Soviet period, the Great Patriotic War, and the Belsky uyezd (village) of the late 19th–early 20th century. The museum hosts various events and actively conducts guided tours and educational activities to promote the historical heritage of the Belsky region.
