Today the Alekseevskaya Tower is a true monument to Novgorod's history and architecture. It is the only surviving stone tower of the city's outer defensive ring, built in 1582–1584 by order of Ivan IV the Terrible. The tower has four tiers with a total height of more than 15 meters, internal wall staircases, a unique sondage, and also offers a panoramic view of the city from its embrasures. The tower has served many generations and remains remarkably well preserved. It invites everyone to visit and get acquainted with Novgorod's history and architecture.
