About museum
In 1971, the District Local History Museum was founded on the basis of the Bagan District Pioneer House. In 1980–1981 an archaeological expedition discovered numerous artifacts in the ancient burials of the Bolshelukovskie kurgans within the district. At present, the museum's main and research-supporting collections include over 8,000 items. It features collections of documents, painting, graphics, sculpture, applied arts, everyday life and ethnography, numismatics, archaeology, and technology. The archaeology, Great Patriotic War (World War II), contemporary history, nature, lecture, and exhibition halls are open and active. The museum conducts tours, lectures, museum lessons, exhibitions, events, and meetings. Additionally, the museum holds an annual Open Doors Day and participates in the international "Night of Museums" initiative. In 2015 an exhibition titled "Letters from the Front" was presented, allowing visitors to read authentic letters from local front-line soldiers.
