The Aznakaevsky Local History Museum was founded by order of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan in 1991. Until 1999 the museum did not have its own building and was located in the House of Culture. The ceremonial opening of the museum took place on May 18, 1999, and on August 13, 2016 the museum moved to a new building. The museum features five exhibition halls: “Archaeology and Nature of the Region”, “Ethnography, Trade and Crafts of the District”, “History of the District in the 1930s–1960s and the Great Patriotic War”, “Post‑war History of the District. Notable Locals”, “History of Oil Production in the Region”. The museum's collections include museum items, documents, photographs, personal belongings and books that introduce the district's culture. The museum regularly hosts meetings with notable locals, war veterans, home-front workers and other people, and also holds exhibitions. All of this attracts interest in the district's history and helps people understand its culture.
