\r\nAtaman Palace in Novocherkassk is an important monument of the history and culture of the Don; it was built in 1863 as the official residence of the atamans of the Don Cossack Host. Emperors Alexander II, Alexander III and Nicholas II visited here. The palace is a luxuriously finished building, decorated with a cast-iron staircase and lavish fireplaces of Italian marble. Today it houses a memorial exhibition that tells about the Don atamans and their influence on the history of the Don. The palace has become a popular tourist destination and a venue for cultural and historical events, symbolizing the high level of art and culture of the Don atamans in the past.
