The project of the monument to A.M. Gorky (1896-1936). Option I

The first draft of the monument to A.M. Gorky, created in 1939 by sculptor Sergei Dmitrievich Merkurov. The man's figure depicts a writer with his right arm bent up and his head turned to the right. The left hand, with the fingers bent, except for the index finger, is extended forward. The right leg is set back. He is wearing a coat with the hems unbuttoned, under which a jacket and trousers are visible. The stand is a cylindrical base. Modeling, plaster, casting and tinting are used in the work.
