Amginsky Museum of the History of the Civil War in Yakutia
About museum
The history of the Amginsky Museum begins in 1940, when a zoological museum opened in the district. In 1965 a public Museum of Revolutionary and Labor Glory was opened, headed by Vasily Konstantinovich Rastorguev. In 1977 the museum was transferred to the authority of the republic's local history museum, and in 2003 preparations began for the construction of the museum complex 'Old Settlement'. In 2005 a land plot was allocated for the museum, and in 2007 the Amginsky Museum was transformed into a municipal institution. The museum grounds include three houses: the V. G. Korolenko Museum, the Museum of the History of the Civil War and the Great Patriotic War (WWII), and the L. V. Kirensky House-Museum. The museum's main collection consists of 2,332 museum items that were received from the funds of YAGOMIKNS and the RBTS museum. They include historical documents, photographs, biographies, personal belongings, awards, memoirs, and materials on the history of the Amginsky ulus.
