Aldan Historical and Local Lore Museum
About museum
The Aldan Museum was founded in 1933, when the town was still just a settlement. Initially the museum focused on mineralogy research. In 1999 the wooden building was destroyed and all the exhibits were lost, but the museum staff successfully rebuilt it in 2000. Currently the museum occupies 265 square meters and has 14 collections: painting, graphic arts, sculpture, applied arts, household and ethnographic items, minerals and numismatics. The museum's collections include paintings by artists from Yakutia. In 2020 the museum held numerous events related to the celebration of the 90th anniversary of Aldan District, the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, the Year of Memory and Glory in Russia, and the Year of Patriotism in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). The museum has 11,891 exhibits. The museum also offers tours, educational events, master classes and meetings with interesting people.
