About museum
In 1982 the Local History Museum of the village of Akshuat was opened, located in the old school. Then, in 1988 the museum was moved to a new building, and in 2010 an updated exhibition was created in the workshop. In 2012 the museum exhibition was closed and a preschool group was placed in its space. In 2016 the museum gained non-governmental status and was relocated to the building of the Akshuat Forestry. On that floor there are exhibition areas (108.7 sq.m) and a wicker-weaving workshop. The museum's holdings amount to 1,500 items and include materials from the family of the landowner V. N. Polivanov, negatives from the 1950s–1970s by Akshuat photographer A. F. Koblov, personal belongings of Akshuat residents, ethnographic collections and items of local folk crafts.
