The state cultural institution "Aginsky National Museum named after G. Tsybikov" is a research institution and the guardian of the material and spiritual culture of the Agin Buryat District and Zabaykalsky Krai. The museum was founded in 1961 and was formerly called the Agin District Local History Museum. Currently the museum's main collection includes more than 10,000 items, of which over 4,000 are on display. The museum's halls cover a variety of themes, from nature and archaeology to Buddhism, the revolution and the civil war, military glory, modern achievements, government structures, culture, literature and sports. The museum regularly holds exhibitions, concerts, lectures, round tables and other events.
