Vadim Yuryevich Orlov – a public figure, philanthropist, and collector. Vadim Yuryevich Orlov was born on October 10, 1939, in the Yaroslavl Region. After completing seven years of schooling, he enrolled in an automotive-mechanical technical college. After graduating from the technical school, he served his mandatory military service.
 
In 1962 Orlov took a job in the carbon black production at the Novo-Yaroslavl plant, where he advanced from mechanic to deputy director for commercial affairs. After receiving his higher education at the Yaroslavl Polytechnic Institute, in 1974 he was appointed head of a plant workshop. Later he held the posts of head of the planning and economic department and deputy director of the plant for commercial affairs.
 
In 1991 Orlov headed the Yaroslavl Technical Carbon Plant, and in 1992 he became the general director of the joint-stock company "Yaroslavl Technical Carbon". In 2006 he was elected chairman of the board of directors of this enterprise. Vadim Yuryevich Orlov died on September 5, 2016. In 2018 a private Vadim Orlov Museum opened in Yaroslavl, the basis of whose exhibition was the patron's personal collection: items made of porcelain, silver, and cast iron.
