Vasily Rodionovich Yasinov is a well-known local historian, author of the books "Levokumye" and "The Tale of Levokumye", and an honorary citizen of the district. He was born on 24 January 1926 in the village of Nagutskoye in Stavropol Krai. In 1941 Yasinov completed seven grades of school. After experiencing the German occupation he volunteered for the front, took part in battles, was wounded and was awarded the medals "For Courage", "For the Liberation of Warsaw", "For the Victory over Germany" and the Order of the Patriotic War, 1st class (1985). After the war he graduated from the Syzran Tank School and served in the Transbaikal Military District.
After demobilization Yasinov worked in the Arkhangelsky District of Stavropol Krai, held various positions, including responsible secretary of the district newspaper and second secretary of the district Komsomol committee. He then received an education at the Stavropol Pedagogical Institute and a party school. Later he worked as a history teacher and as a school principal in Levokumsky District. After retiring in 1986 he devoted himself to local history, documented the monuments of Levokumsky District, and worked at the district museum and the veterans' council. Vasily Rodionovich Yasinov passed away on 5 October 2010.
