Vasily Ivanovich Korobeinikov was a Soviet economic, state, and political figure, Hero of Socialist Labor. He was born at the Kargat station into the family of a railway worker. In the 1920s he became an orphan and for some time was a homeless child. After several years of working as a hired laborer he moved to Novosibirsk, where he was raised in an orphanage and worked in the workshops of the "Sibdetkomissiya". In 1929 he joined the Komsomol.
 
In 1936, after studying at the Tomsk Industrial Institute and attending editorial courses in Moscow, Korobeinikov worked for several years as a newspaper editor in Altai Krai. In 1942 he became head of the propaganda and agitation department, and in 1946 – second secretary of the Andreyevsky district party committee. In subsequent years he held leadership positions in various districts, including serving as first secretary of district party committees in the Severny and Chistoozyorny districts, and also worked for five years in Kazakhstan. From 1962 he was the first secretary of the Krasnozyorsky district party committee.
 
Under Korobeinikov's leadership the Krasnozyorsky district underwent significant changes: many administrative buildings, residential houses, and social infrastructure facilities were built. For his merits, in 1972 Korobeinikov was awarded the title Hero of Socialist Labor. After retiring in 1979 he remained an active public figure and wrote the book "Unforgettable". Vasily Ivanovich Korobeinikov died in Novosibirsk in 1999.
