Isaak Fedorovich Khudoyarov
About museum
Isaak Fedorovich Khudoyarov was a serf artist and icon painter. Together with his brothers Pavel and Stepan, they were representatives of the fourth generation of Tagil masters who left a vivid mark on the cultural history of the Urals. By birth Isaak Fedorovich was a serf, but later received the title of a merchant of Verkhoturye. He acquired his first painting skills in his father's workshop, painting lacquered iron items. The Khudoyarov brothers continued and developed the family craft of artistically painting metal trays and coating them with a "crystal" varnish, the secret of which was passed down by inheritance.
Isaak Fedorovich made the paints for his painting himself. In the family workshop they painted trays, jewelry boxes and other items. Isaak Fedorovich's work is characterized by folk themes — depictions of everyday life, labor and entertainments of ordinary people. He greatly loved depicting flowers, was an avid gardener and a connoisseur of floristry, drawing inspiration from nature. Isaak Fedorovich's works are held in the Nizhny Tagil Museum. In addition to floral motifs and garden scenes, he painted genre scenes and portraits. He passed his skills and love of painting to his sons — Dementiy, Vonifatiy and Fedor, who continued the family traditions of painting lacquered items.
