Ruslan Izrailovich Mamilov – a Soviet artist and sculptor. He was born on November 7, 1928 in Vladikavkaz. In 1956 he enrolled in the Alma-Ata Art College in the sculpture department; the following year he transferred to the Tbilisi Art School, which he graduated from with honors in 1958.
He worked in the art-casting workshop at the studios of the Art Fund of Georgia, at the Art Fund of the Kazakh SSR in Alma-Ata, in the sculpture workshop of the road sign factory of the Kazakh SSR, and as a sculptor in the studios of the Art Fund of the RSFSR Chechen-Ingush branch. Mamilov is the author of a number of well-known works, including sculptural portraits of prominent people of his time: heroes of the Civil War, labor heroes, and well-known figures of culture and science.
The artist passed away on February 25, 1993, before he could complete his final work – a monumental wall dedicated to firefighters. By decree of the President of the Republic of Ingushetia dated December 16, 2002, Ruslan Izrailovich Mamilov was awarded the Order "For Merit" (posthumously).
