Nina Stepanovna Tsekhonova – a local historian of the Kondinsky District. She was born in the village of Ashlyk in the Tyumen Region. After graduating from the agricultural school near Tobolsk, she worked in Yamal and in the 1930s was an educator at the school of the village of Karym in the Kondinsky District. On assignment from the district committee Tsekhonova researched the history of the establishment of Soviet power in the Kondinsky District. She worked in the archives of Tyumen and Tobolsk, studying documents and archival materials. The result of her research was several scholarly works devoted to the history and formation of the district.
