About museum
Nadezhda Vyacheslavovna Brykina is a Russian collector, gallerist, publisher, curator and art historian. She was born in 1959. Her interest in collecting appeared in early childhood: as a schoolgirl she was fascinated by organic objects. During her student years she began to collect works of fine art, befriended artists, and visited their studios. When she acquired certain financial means, she began to purchase works by artists of the 1920s–1930s.
In the early 1990s she started assembling a collection centered on works by nonconformist artists of the 1960s, formed during the Khrushchev-era “thaw”, as well as their followers. In 2023, based on the collection of the Nadja Brykina Gallery and the Nadya Brykina Foundation for Contemporary Art (Nadja Brykina Foundation), the Museum of Nonconformism officially opened in Moscow. Nadezhda Brykina is also an academician of the Russian Academy of Arts and the author of more than 30 monographs and albums.
