Naum Matveevich Zasimov — a painter, member of the Union of Artists of the USSR. He was born on December 1, 1928 in the Nemyuginsky nasleg of the Khangalassky ulus. In 1952 he graduated from the Yakutsk Art College; in 1954–1956 he studied at the Graphic Faculty of the Moscow State Art Institute named after V. I. Surikov. Since 1957 he took part in many regional, republican and All-Union exhibitions.
He painted narrative-thematic works and worked in the genres of landscape and portrait. From the second half of the 1970s he devoted himself enthusiastically to the theme of the Baikal–Amur Mainline and the South Yakutian coal complex, gathering extensive material as a result of numerous trips to the industrial areas of Southern Yakutia.
Naum Matveevich Zasimov passed away on November 9, 1991 in Yakutsk. At the initiative of the artist’s widow, L. A. Zasimova, a picture gallery named after Naum Matveevich Zasimov was opened in the town of Pokrovsk, becoming the cultural center of the town.
