Nikolai Fyodorovich Letyagin — Teacher, recipient of the Badge "Excellence in Public Education of the RSFSR", and Honored Worker of Culture of the Russian Federation. He was born on September 28, 1926, into a large family. Letyagin began his education at the Novoberyozovskaya primary school in 1936. Even then his talents began to emerge: he was a permanent member of the school editorial board, drew the wall newspaper, and wrote poetry.
In 1943 Letyagin completed seven grades and was drafted into the army. He served in the counterintelligence unit "SMERSH" on the eastern border, and in 1944 became a squad commander. In 1945 he was concussed and became disabled. After demobilization, in 1948 Letyagin worked as a teacher.
Letyagin designed monuments to fallen soldiers in the villages of Yekaterinovka and Novoberyozovka. In 1966 he organized a local museum in Novoberyozovka, the exhibits of which were later moved to Idrinskoye. For his selfless and conscientious work in the fields of education and culture, Letyagin was awarded the Badge "Excellence in Public Education of the RSFSR" and given the honorary title "Honored Worker of Culture of the Russian Federation." He received 18 government awards. Nikolai Fyodorovich Letyagin passed away on September 17, 2004.
