Maria Kirillovna Shklyaeva

Maria Kirillovna Shklyaeva – the founder of the local history museum in the village of Yakshur-Bodya.  Over the course of her life Maria Kirillovna mastered many professions: she was a teacher, a Pioneer leader, managed the village store, worked as the head of the club, and led an agitation brigade.

  

In 1961, thanks to her efforts, a local history museum opened in Yakshur-Bodya. Before that she spent six months collecting exhibits; she herself acted as the artist, designer, guide, and collections keeper. Maria Kirillovna was a deputy of the district council and was awarded the title of Honored Worker of Culture of the Udmurt ASSR.  On October 6, 1981, she became the first director of the public local history museum in the village of Yakshur-Bodya. In 1993 the museum was granted district local-history status. Maria Kirillovna passed away in 2002. In 2013 the museum was named after Shklyaeva.
