Grigory Sergeyevich Puzyryov
About museum
Grigory Sergeyevich was born on January 1, 1920 in the village of Petukhovo, located in the Vagai District of Tyumen Oblast. After completing his studies at the Shigrovskaya incomplete secondary school, he continued his education in teacher training courses in the district center. His teaching career began on August 15, 1938 at the Shigrovskaya school.
Grigory Sergeyevich conducted lessons with enthusiasm and energy. From 1939 to 1943 he served as deputy director; for his achievements in pedagogy he repeatedly received awards and commendations. From 1943 he began working in the Far North as head of the academic department of the Kushevat Children's Home, and also taught Russian language and literature. Later he was transferred to the Gorkovskaya seven-year school. In 1946 he was awarded the medal "For Valiant Labor in the Great Patriotic War 1941–1945." From August 15, 1947 to July 1, 1951 Grigory Sergeyevich studied at the History Faculty of the Tyumen State Pedagogical Institute. After graduating he worked as director and as a history teacher at the secondary school in the settlement of Aksarka in the Priuralsky District. For his conscientious approach to work he received a commendation that was entered into his personal file. On January 23, 1956 he was awarded the badge "Excellence in Public Education." On July 16, 1958 Grigory Sergeyevich became the director of the Gorkovskaya secondary school, where he was elected a deputy of the village and district Soviets. He also took part in the 3rd regional teachers' congress in 1959.
For his long and productive work in education Grigory Sergeyevich was awarded more than twenty Letters of Honor and numerous commendations. In 1970 his name was entered in the District Book of Honor. That same year he received the medal "For Valiant Labor" in honor of the 100th anniversary of the birth of V.I. Lenin, and in 1975 — the medals "Veteran of Labor" and "30th Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War 1941–1945."
After retiring he devoted himself to creating the district historical and local lore museum — the dream of his life. The museum developed gradually, and Grigory Sergeyevich gladly accepted every new find and every reply to his requests. He traveled to many settlements and schools in the district, explaining the importance of creating the museum, collected exhibits and studied the region's history and the culture of the indigenous population. He regularly turned to the pages of "Leninsky put", publishing articles about the region's past and present and calling for assistance in creating the museum. On April 24, 1985 the executive committee of the district council decided to create the district historical and local lore museum. On March 6, 1986 the museum was officially opened on a voluntary basis in the building of the district newspaper "Leninsky put", where four departments were presented: the Lenin Hall, the Hall of Military Glory, the Department of History and Ethnography, and the Department of Nature. Two of these departments already had their own history, and their exhibitions became the basis of the new museum.
By November 28, 1986 the four departments contained 1,500 museum items, and the display area amounted to 123.5 m². Among the unique exhibits at that time were photographs of M. I. Kalinin in an ushanka, a debt ledger of indigenous peoples from 1859–1864, a certificate of completion of the Muzhevskaya parish school, and stone tools.
On May 30, 2004, at the age of 85, Grigory Sergeyevich passed away in the town of Alexandrov in Vladimir Oblast, where he had moved with his family in the summer of 1988 after a long illness.
