Gennady Fyodorovich Borunov

Gennady Fyodorovich Borunov was a painter, Honored Artist of the RSFSR, and a laureate of the Altai Krai Prize in the field of literature, art, architecture and folk art. He was born in the village of Pavlovsk in Altai Krai. He graduated from the Moscow Theatrical Art and Technical School, the I. N. Kramskoy Leningrad Art School, and the I. E. Repin Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture of the Academy of Arts of the USSR. After graduating from the institute, he returned to Altai and worked as a painter at the creative-production combine of the Art Fund of the RSFSR.
In 1964 Borunov became a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR, and in 1967 he was awarded the medal 'For Labour Valour'. In 1978 his solo exhibition was held in Barnaul. Borunov received the Altai Demidov Foundation Prize (1995) and the Altai Krai Prize (1998), and participated in congresses of artists of the USSR and the RSFSR. He helped establish an art gallery in the village of Pavlovsk, which during his lifetime was reorganized into a museum bearing his name. Since 2003 he was an honorary citizen of the village of Pavlovsk. Gennady Fyodorovich Borunov passed away in 2008.
