Filipp Mironovich Lukin – a Chuvash composer, choral conductor, teacher, and musical public figure. He was born in 1913 in the village of Syaval-Sirma in Yadrinsky Uyezd (now Krasnoarmeysky Municipal District of the Chuvash Republic). In 1932 he graduated from the Chuvash Music and Theatre College, and in 1942 from the P. I. Tchaikovsky Moscow Conservatory.
He worked as a chorister and assistant conductor of the State Choir of the Chuvash ASSR. From 1942 to 1956 he was the artistic director and chief conductor of the Chuvash State Song and Dance Ensemble; from 1957 to 1959 he served as director and artistic director of the Chuvash State Philharmonic. From 1959 to 1992 he taught choral conducting at the Cheboksary Music School named after F. P. Pavlov. From 1948 to 1977 he headed the Union of Composers of Chuvashia. He is the author of more than 800 songs, choral works, romances, and instrumental pieces. Among them are the songs «Салам, Мускав!» (Hello, Moscow!), «Ҫамрӑксен юрри» (Youth), «Телейлӗ туслӑх» (Happy Friendship), and others.
Some awards and titles: laureate of the State (Stalin) Prize of the USSR, 3rd degree (1952); Honored Art Worker of the Chuvash ASSR (1945); Honored Art Worker of the RSFSR (1960); People’s Artist of the RSFSR (1970); Honored Art Worker of the Dagestan ASSR (1972). In 1989 he was entered into the Honorary Book of Labor Glory and Heroism of the Chuvash ASSR. He was awarded the Orders of the October Revolution, the Red Banner of Labour, Friendship of Peoples, and the Badge of Honour. Filipp Mironovich Lukin passed away on 3 February 1994 in Cheboksary.
