Fatikh Valeevich Karim

Fatikh Valeevich Karim was a Tatar Soviet poet. He was born on December 27, 1908 (January 9, 1909 in the New Style) in the village of Aitovo (now Bizhbulyaksky District, Bashkortostan). There he received his primary education, after which in 1922 he entered the Belebeevsky Pedagogical College. He then studied at the Kazan Land-Management Technical School, collaborated with republican newspapers and magazines, and worked in the children's and youth literature editorial office of Tatizdat. During the Great Patriotic War he took part in combat operations.
On January 17, 1945, Junior Lieutenant Karim was appointed commander of a sapper platoon of the 226th Separate Sapper Battalion. He was killed on February 19, 1945 while carrying out a combat mission on the approaches to Königsberg (now Kaliningrad). He was buried in a mass grave in Bagrationovsk, Kaliningrad Oblast.
