David Lvovich Borovsky – a Soviet and Russian theatrical artist and scenographer. He was born on July 2, 1934, in Odessa. From 1947 to 1950 he studied at the Kyiv Art School, and from the age of fifteen he worked in Kyiv theaters.
Borovsky's first production appeared in 1956 — it was Eduardo De Filippo's play "A Lie on Long Legs." In 1965 he created his first opera production — Shostakovich's "Katerina Izmailova." In 1966 Borovsky moved to Moscow at the invitation of Boris Lvov-Anokhin and for a year served as the chief artist of the Stanislavsky Theatre.
From 1967 and for thirty years David Borovsky worked at the Taganka Theatre, where together with Yuri Lyubimov he created numerous legendary productions. Since 2002 he held the position of chief artist of the Moscow Art Theatre named after A. P. Chekhov (MKhAT). David Lvovich Borovsky died in Bogotá on April 6, 2006, during a solo exhibition and was buried at the Troyekurovskoye Cemetery in Moscow.
