Boris Lazarevich Oshkukov – physician, Russian artist, mosaicist, sculptor, patron. In 1972 he graduated from the Leningrad Sanitary and Hygienic Medical Institute. He began medical practice at the Regional Clinical Hospital of the city of Novgorod (now Veliky Novgorod). Later he founded the intensive care unit there, where he worked for 17 years.
In 1991 he began creating a pharmaceutical supply system for clinics in Russia with the aim of restoring the broken links between drug manufacturers and medical institutions. In 1994 he ended his medical practice. From 2000 to 2003 he studied mosaic art at the Department of Monumental and Decorative Painting at the Saint Petersburg Stieglitz State Academy of Art and Industry. In 2002 he studied the basics of Florentine mosaic in the studio of artist Gennady Pavlishin in Khabarovsk.
In 2003 he established the Saint Petersburg Museum of Florentine Mosaic, the foundation of which was the collection of works by Russian mosaicists working in this technique, assembled by B. L. Oshkukov and his wife L. N. Oshkukova. Boris Lazarevich Oshkukov passed away on January 17, 2021, in Saint Petersburg.
