Boris Konstantinovich Gindtse was a Doctor of Biological and Medical Sciences, a professor, and the head of the Department of Animal Anatomy and Histology of the Zootechnical Faculty of the Timiryazev Agricultural Academy. He was born in Saint Petersburg into a noble family. In 1903 he graduated from the natural-science division of the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics of Moscow University and worked in the fields of applied zoology, sericulture, and ichthyology.
In 1915 Gindtse entered the medical faculty of Moscow State University (MSU), which he completed as an external student in 1917. Until 1921 he served as a military doctor in Red Army hospitals. After that he returned to MSU, where he worked at the medical and the physics-and-mathematics faculties. In 1934 he became head of the Department of Anatomy and Histology at the Timiryazev Academy, where he worked until the end of his life.
In 1935 Gindtse received the degree of Doctor of Biological Sciences, and in 1943 the degree of Doctor of Medical Sciences. He founded the university Museum of Anatomy, which today bears his name. Boris Konstantinovich Gindtse passed away in 1953.
