Arslan Kotlyakhmetovich Mubaryakov – one of the first professional Bashkir actors and theatre directors, a playwright, People's Artist of the USSR. Arslan Mubaryakov was born on December 2, 1908, in the village of Assy in the Beloretsky District of Bashkortostan. He was orphaned at an early age and was raised in the Sermenevsky children's home from 1920 to 1927. In 1931 he successfully graduated from the theatrical department of the Bashkir State College of Arts.
He served his entire life at the Bashkir Academic Drama Theatre. In addition to his acting work, Mubaryakov held leadership positions: artistic director (1937–1939), director (from 1949) and chief director (1951–1954). As an actor he is best known for the role of Salavat Yulaev, which he performed on stage and in film, including the cult film by Yakov Protazanov. For his significant contribution to the development of theatrical art, Arslan Mubaryakov was awarded the honorary titles People's Artist of the USSR, Honored Artist of the RSFSR and of the Bashkir ASSR. Arslan Kotlyakhmetovich Mubaryakov died on May 5, 1977, and was buried in Ufa at the Muslim Cemetery.
