About museum
Aleksey Vasilyevich Yushkin was a Soviet economic, state, and political figure. He was born in 1934 in the village of Nesterovka. He graduated from the Kuibyshev Agricultural Institute. At 19 he began his working career as an agronomist at the Dubovo-Umet Machine and Tractor Station (MTS). For ten years he worked in various collective farms: in Berezovy Gay, in Rovno-Vladimirovka, and he also served as an employee of the district executive committee. In 1963, as a result of the abolition of the Dubovo-Umet District as an administrative unit and the creation of the Volzhsky District, management structures were reorganized and the Volzhsky district executive committee became based in the regional center. But A. V. Yushkin wanted to remain "on the land".
At the age of 29 Yushkin took over the management of a difficult farm and was able to achieve outstanding results in its economic and social development. Under his leadership, advanced agricultural technologies were implemented, roads were laid, gas was brought in, and a kindergarten, a boarding house for veteran collective farmers, a prophylactorium, and houses for collective farmers and doctors were built. A. V. Yushkin reorganized work by creating integrated specialized brigades for forming the dairy herd, and soon 'Progress' became the most profitable collective farm in the country. People came to learn from the 'Progress' members. The experience of organizing dairy production at the 'Progress' collective farm was recommended by the board of the Ministry of Agriculture of the RSFSR for study by all heads of similar collective farms.
For his work, the outstanding organizer Aleksey Vasilyevich Yushkin was awarded state honors. Among them: the Order of Lenin, the Order of the October Revolution, the Order of the Red Banner of Labour, the badge 'Honored Worker of Agriculture', as well as numerous medals, certificates of honor, and diplomas. In 1997 he was granted the title of Honorary Citizen of Volzhsky District. He was elected a deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the RSFSR of the 8th convocation and of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of the 11th convocation. He passed away on 27 August 2005.
