About museum
Akhmad Suleymanovich Suleymanov was a Soviet Chechen researcher and local historian (Caucasologist), educator, teacher, folk poet (ashug), folklorist, translator, artist and musician. He was born in the village of Alkhazurovo. After finishing secondary school, Suleymanov held various public positions, working as an instructor at the People's Commissariat for Education (Narkompros) and as secretary of the district Komsomol committee. The deportation of the Chechens and Ingush in 1944 interrupted his activities, and he continued his education in Kazakhstan at the Semipalatinsk Pedagogical Institute. During his studies he developed an interest in the toponymy of his native region.
After returning to his homeland following the deportation, Suleymanov worked as a school principal in Alkhazurovo, teaching Chechen and Russian languages and literature. He continued to work in education until his retirement, combining his teaching with research at the Chechen-Ingush Scientific Research Institute of History, Language and Literature. Suleymanov was also a well-known poet; his first collection of poems was published in 1967, followed by about ten more: 'Hope', 'Mountain Spring' and 'Symphony of the Mountains'. Many of his poems became popular songs. In 1978 he became a member of the Union of Writers of Chechen-Ingushetia, and in 1988 he received the State Literary Prize of the Chechen-Ingush ASSR. Akhmad Suleymanovich Suleymanov died on June 20, 1995.
