Agrippina Vaganova was a legendary ballerina and teacher. She graduated from the St. Petersburg Theatrical School, was accepted into the Mariinsky Theatre ballet company, and achieved success despite not having leading roles. Her unique technique, honed through rigorous training and the influence of outstanding instructors, formed the basis of the Vaganova method, which became the global standard in ballet education. After ending her stage career she devoted herself entirely to teaching and trained many generations of great dancers. Vaganova led the Mariinsky Ballet, staged the ballet "Swan Lake," and wrote the fundamental work "Fundamentals of Classical Dance," which became a handbook for ballet masters worldwide.
