XVI Krasnoyarsk Museum Biennale "The Principle of Hope"

About exhibition

The biennale presents collections of material-world objects of nationwide significance – works by the seminal late-20th-century artist Mikhail Roginsky, photographs by Soviet and Russian photographer Alexander Slyusarev, as well as works from 18 Russian museums. In its 30th year, the Krasnoyarsk Museum Biennale has chosen "The Principle of Hope" as its thematic focus, which permeates the aspirations of modernist creative geniuses. The biennale brings together several projects: the main biennale project (curator – Sergey Kovalevsky) consists of mini-exhibitions from 18 museums across Russia; in the museum's largest space – the Platform – there will be an entrance installation: the sculpture "Teleport" by Alexey Shidlovsky, alluding both to the Tower of Babel and to a stairway to space; a special project – Mikhail Roginsky's exhibition "Country of Origin" – the first regional Russia exhibition of this seminal late-20th-century artist; a special project "In the Mirror of Things" by Alexander Slyusarev – an exhibition by the renowned Soviet and Russian photographer Alexander Slyusarev; a guest project – objects and drawings "Forms of the Future" by Leonid Tishkov. In the genre of museum installation, the artist reconstructs streamlined forms made by Konstantin Tsiolkovsky for aerodynamic experiments; in the children's program – the exhibition "The House He Built" (curator – Anastasia Bezvershuk), consisting of works by participants of the fourth season of the children's "Workshop of Touching Deeds".
