Exhibition project 'Border'

About exhibition

Unique exhibits tell the story of the development of the border service in the region up to the present day. The first section presents the combat history of the unit — the 33rd Motorized Rifle Regiment of the NKVD operational troops, formed on the first day of the Great Patriotic War (World War II). After the war, its personnel were sent to serve on the border in Chukotka. Particular emphasis is placed on wartime documents, photographs of the regiment's officers during the war years, and photographic records of the first days of the regiment's arrival in Provideniya in 1946 aboard the steamship 'Jean Jaurès' to assume duty guarding the Chukotka section of the USSR border. The second section displays items that reveal the unit's modern history and the border guards' service in defending the Fatherland. The exhibition comprises authentic testimonies of the era — servicemen's personal belongings, weapon samples, documents, printed publications, photographs, insignia, and jubilee medals.
