Exhibition "The Law of God in Parish Schools"

About exhibition

Exhibition project — a joint initiative of the museum-reserve "Homeland of V. I. Lenin" and Parish School No. 1 attached to the Arskoye churches. The project is a historical study dedicated to the role of the Law of God lesson in the school curriculum of pre‑revolutionary Russia and to how this subject exists in modern schools, illustrated by the teaching of Law of God lessons at Parish School No. 1 in the village of Arskoye and the school course "Foundations of Religious Cultures and Secular Ethics" (ORKSE). Visitors can see items from the collections of the museum-reserve "Homeland of V. I. Lenin": psalters, the Gospel, the New Testament, a Church Slavonic grammar textbook, icons, visual-aid cards for studying the Law of God, and photographs of religion teachers. The exhibition is supplemented by items provided by Parish School No. 1 of Arskoye: icons, books, copybooks, children's drawings, as well as religious-themed essays by laureates of the festivals and competitions "Let's Revive Holy Rus'", "Easter Brings Us Joy", and "Messenger of Goodness".
