Exhibitions at the Yesenin Center
About exhibition
Visitors will be able to see a diptych exhibition dedicated to two major milestones in Russia’s history. The two exhibition halls of the Yesenin Center tell the story of twentieth-century Russia and the roles of father and son, Sergei and Konstantin Yesenin, in two major wars — the First World War and the Second World War. The exhibition “Train No. 143”, located in the first hall, immerses visitors in the atmosphere of a medical military train car from the First World War and tells of Sergei Yesenin’s service and his creative work during the period from 1914 to 1916. The collection emphasizes Yesenin’s poetry and the poet’s domestic surroundings during that period. The exhibition “Front-line Soldier K. Yesenin”, presented in the second hall, focuses on the memory of the heroism of Konstantin Yesenin — the son of Sergei Yesenin and Zinaida Reich — who, despite his youth, took up the defense of his homeland during the Great Patriotic War (World War II). The display links military exploits with the cultural heritage of the Yesenin and Reich families through personal belongings, letters and photographs of Konstantin Yesenin, as well as historical materials reflecting the role of art and literature in wartime.
