Exhibition 'Animals of the Kirov Region'
About exhibition
The museum continues to host the exhibition 'Animals of the Kirov Region'. The region is home to 68 species of mammals from six orders and 18 families: 24 species from the order Rodentia (rodents), 18 species from the order Carnivora (carnivores), 10 species each from the orders Chiroptera (bats) and Eulipotyphla (insectivores), 4 species from the order Artiodactyla (even-toed ungulates) and 2 species from the order Lagomorpha (lagomorphs). Most of the animals are represented in the exhibition. The largest are the bear, the wild boar and the roe deer. Seven species may still be found in the southern districts of the region — among them the smallest mammal, the lesser white-toothed shrew, as well as the greater noctule, the lesser noctule, the pygmy bat, the steppe marmot (bobak), the East European vole and the steppe polecat.
