Exhibition "The Golden Age of Suoyarvi Pig Iron"

The exhibition offers an opportunity to learn about the history of ironworking industries in Karelia and the Suoyarvi iron-smelting plant. It is not only an interesting page in the history of the Suoyarvi district, but also the first stage of the area's industrial development, a connecting link with the "greater" history of Russia and its prominent figures — Count A. G. Orlov-Chesmensky and his daughter Anna Alexeyevna, the merchant Gromovs, as well as with the history of Karelia and the Olonets Mining District. The exhibition features samples of lake iron ore and flux stone, tools used for ore extraction, and some types of the plant's products — pig iron ingots, iron shot (cannonballs), and furnace fittings. If visitors have transportation, they can visit the ruins of the plant located in the settlement of Karatsalmi (8 km from the town).
