Exhibition 'The Golden Horde. Secrets of a Lost Civilization'
About exhibition
The exhibition features more than 200 unique items from the museum's archaeological collection. Visitors will see the military equipment of a Tatar‑Mongol warrior, a restored saber found in a 13th–14th century burial, a unique collection of bronze mirrors, and will become acquainted with types of everyday and ceremonial tableware, household items and even magical amulets of Golden Horde women. One of the interesting exhibits is a harness set with depictions of mythical winged horses, discovered by Volgograd archaeologists. Many everyday items used by the great Mongols have counterparts among modern objects — scissors, thimbles, cups, spoons — which are also included in the exhibition. Guests will see rare examples of Chinese and Central Asian pottery, represented by fragments of a special ceramic — celadon — whose quality is close to porcelain. An unforgettable exhibit will be an ancient bronze mirror, among others. For information call: +7 (8442) 38-84-39, +7 (8442) 38-84-37.
