Exhibition 'Your Acquaintance, Sergei Yesenin'
About exhibition
Sergei Yesenin was born on October 3, 1895. His poems call for goodness and light, and instill a sense of beauty and love for the homeland. The exhibition at the Museum of the Book presents world-renowned works from the library's rare collection, gramophone recordings of musical works set to Yesenin's verses, literature with commentary, chronicles of his life, photographic documents, and memoirs about the poet, which together allow a more complete and cohesive picture of Sergei Yesenin's life and personality. Of particular interest are the poet's editions in foreign languages: the collection of poems and long poems 'Birch', 'Goi, You, My Native Rus' in English with parallel Russian texts; selected poems in Serbian such as 'Stupid Heart, Don't Beat', 'Song about Bread', and others. Visitors will see paintings and graphic works by artists A. Titov, N. Romadin, and L. Vinogradov that reflect Yesenin's poetic world and were created in different years.
