Exhibition "Animals of the Underwater World"
About exhibition
The St. Petersburg Oceanarium opened in 2006 and has been popular not only with children but also with adults ever since. The unique collection features fish, amphibians, reptiles, mollusks and mammals from various corners of the globe. Among the most notable fish are the regal sturgeon, bloodthirsty piranhas, graceful sharks, elegant moray eels and amusing seahorses. Sometimes you can hear frogs singing or otters "chirping" in anticipation of lunch, while seals, clumsy on land, display virtuosic swimming and somersaults in the water. Demonstration feedings are held each day according to a schedule and are accompanied by short lectures from staff. During these events you can learn the most interesting facts about the lives of river and sea inhabitants. The evening shark feeding is especially impressive: an experienced diver hand-feeds these famous marine predators. Self-guided visits are not time-limited, so you can spend a long time observing jellyfish, rays, mollusks and turtles. You can learn more about all the inhabitants at lectures, quizzes, themed events and environmental celebrations in the Educational Center, which opened in 2007.
