The region has a rich history that can be traced by visiting the museum. You will learn that people appeared here after the glacier retreated north; the tribes of the Chernoles culture were later replaced by the Cimmerians, Scythians and Sarmatians, and with the dawn of the new era Gotho-Slavic tribes set foot on Graivoron land. In the 13th century the name of the small river Graivoronka — the stream that gave its name to the sloboda of Graivoron, founded in 1678 — was recorded in writing for the first time. The metropolitan sloboda, a place of bustling fairs, was granted town status in 1838 and became the uyezd administrative center. We present a rich chronicle of historical events, heavily supported by unique items from the collections — material evidence of the everyday life, customs and institutions of the local society, which drew the foundations of its cultural traditions from two sources: Russian and Ukrainian.
