About exhibition
By appointment: tel. +7 4942 47-07-40 or +7 4942 31-68-37. The exhibition is dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War. A joint project of the museum-reserve and the newspaper "Severnaya Pravda" presents the war through the prism of life in a rear (home-front) city. The exhibition displays newspaper reports, official and personal documents from the archive of "Severnaya Pravda", which was published during the war years. Personal belongings and photographs of those mobilized, artworks and installations dedicated to wartime childhood help convey the atmosphere of Kostroma residents' labor and military feats. In the boxcar interiors visitors learn about mobilization and what soldiers took with them when leaving for the front. In the hospital ward visitors will learn about the medics of the Victory and the hospitals deployed in the Kostroma region. Children's homemade soft toys, writing supplies and clothing, and a New Year tree reveal the lives of Leningrad children in the Kostroma area. By paging through newspaper pages, visitors will learn why Kostroma received the status of a City of Labour Valour. At the editor's desk, by lifting the telephone receiver you can hear letters from Kostroma residents at the front and take with you the victory issue of the newspaper dated May 9, 1945.
