Exhibition 'The 21st Century on the 20th Century: The History of Contemporary Art'
About exhibition
Why do museums display works that resemble children's drawings? What is the phenomenon of the 'Black Square'? What is an NFT and why do internet images sell for millions? These and many other questions arise when encountering contemporary art. The exhibition features works that reflect the main movements in the art of the past century. Through them you can trace the development of artistic thought and answer the question: 'Why did art become like this?' The works were created by contemporary artists who explore current issues while drawing on the experience of established masters. In addition to the exhibition, an audio tour is available that recounts the history of the emergence of contemporary art. In half an hour visitors will learn why accurate depiction of the surrounding world ceased to be a primary task for artists, when ordinary people acted like renowned creators without realizing it, and how art has influenced the modern world. More details are on the website.
