Exhibition 'Time of Heroes'

About exhibition

In the pre-panoramic hall of the 'Stalingrad Battle' panorama museum, an updated exhibition dedicated to the events and heroes of the special military operation will open. The exhibition is timed to the Year of the Defender of the Fatherland, declared by Decree of the President of the Russian Federation V. V. Putin. A separate section of the exhibition tells about the rise of neo‑Nazism in Ukraine, NATO's assistance to neo‑Nazi formations and the propaganda of their ideology among the population. The exhibition reflects the tragedy of the civilian population of Donbas, showing household items and photographs by Oksana Chigrina, a correspondent of the Luhansk newspaper Respublika. In 2022, the republics of Donbas, as well as the territories of Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions, liberated by Russian forces, held referendums on voluntarily joining the Russian Federation. Display cases exhibit original informational posters, ballots and a ballot box used for voting. A large part of the exposition is occupied by a section dedicated to Volgograd residents who participated in the special military operation (SMO). Memorial items and awards of three Heroes of Russia are presented: M. Apletalin, D. Zorin and E. Orlov. Personal effects and awards of the first woman in the Russian Federation to be awarded the Order of Courage (posthumously) during the SMO — A. Savitskaya. Personal items, awards and elements of uniform of Russian heroes — regular servicemen, mobilized soldiers and volunteer assault fighters of the 'Immortal Stalingrad' detachment — A. Moiseenko, the brothers K. Borisevsky and A. Buzunov, I. Grishin, P. Shashunov, D. Shershitsky, K. Shermatov. The electronic kiosk provides information on sixteen Heroes of Russia and other awardees who were born in the Volgograd region. The exhibition features domestic equipment (the Ural motorcycle of I. Grishin's crew, including the latest Geran UAVs and reconnaissance UAVs), captured enemy equipment and fragments of munitions. The exhibition will run until January 19, 2026.
