Exhibition "The Eastern Region of Rostov Oblast during the Great Patriotic War"

About exhibition

The exhibition tells of the military actions on the territory of Rostov Oblast in 1941–1943 and of the participation of residents of the stanitsas and khutors of the eastern region in the struggle against the Nazi invaders. The exhibition's sections cover mobilization, evacuation, the defensive battles on the Don in the area of the stanitsa of Tsimlyanskaya in the summer of 1942, the occupation of the region from August to December 1942, and its liberation in January 1943. The activities of the partisan detachment from the stanitsa of Romanovskaya are described in detail; seven of its members were brutally executed by the Nazis. Hundreds of exhibits are presented: photographs, documents, banners, uniforms of Soviet soldiers and officers, weapons, awards, newspapers and magazines, and personal belongings of the participants in the fighting.
