About exhibition

The exhibition displays genuine personal belongings of front-line soldiers and home-front workers who forged victories both at the front and in the rear. The entire period of Tomsk’s history during which more than 20 large enterprises, as well as educational and cultural institutions, were evacuated is presented through photographs, documents and personal stories of Tomsk residents and people evacuated from cities in the European part of the USSR. Visitors can see not only shells, mine detectors and parts necessary for armament produced in Tomsk, but also Christmas tree ornaments, medicines and other scientific developments. A large part of the exhibition consists of memoirs of veterans who left Tomsk and the territory of the present-day Tomsk region. The exhibition features authentic military uniforms, weapons, combat awards, and soldiers' letters. It is of interest for the school subjects "Local History" and "History", as well as for students studying in the fields of "History", "Local History" and "Journalism".
