The exhibition reveals the story of the artist’s development from a restoration apprentice to an academician, recounting his family life, wartime biography and years of study in Moscow, as well as his creative and public activities after returning to Vologda. The documentary section features archival materials, personal belongings, photographs from different periods of the artist’s life, his letters to relatives during the war and his studies, and his military and state awards. Also on display are video excerpts of interviews with Vladimir Korbakov, quotations from art-historical articles about the artist, and the emotions and impressions of visitors to his exhibitions over the years. The exhibition includes Vladimir Korbakov’s paintings that demonstrate the full extent of his mastery and professionalism: vivid landscapes of various corners of the Vologda region, colorful still lifes, a gallery of historical portraits and portraits of contemporaries, and large-scale, thematically significant canvases.
