Exhibition "The Great Victory"
About exhibition
In the Year of the Defender of the Fatherland, the N. N. Palmov National Museum of the Republic of Kalmykia presents an innovative exhibition dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory. The modern, high-tech exposition recreates the historical realities of the war years, highlighting the heroism and feats of Kalmykia's people in the overall victory. Visitors can see about 500 unique exhibits: personal belongings of front-line soldiers, awards, archival photographs and documents, film chronicles, battle maps, and eyewitness accounts. Digital panels, video projections, and sound design allow visitors to experience historical facts emotionally. Themed sections of the exhibition tell the stories of the defenders of the Brest Fortress, the 110th Separate Kalmyk Cavalry Division, the partisan struggle in Kalmykia, the Battle of Stalingrad, the Road of Life Astrakhan–Kizlyar, Kalmyk soldiers awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union, and the tragedy of the genocide of the republic's civilian population during the war years. You have the opportunity to feel part of this great history, see testimony to the heroism of compatriots, and immerse yourself in the atmosphere of an era of trials and triumphant victories.
